I recommend
Java, A Beginner’s Guide, 5th Edition , if you are new to programming and are not familiar with OOP’s ( Object Oriented Programming ) concepts. The author of this book is Herbert Schildt who is known for his books on C/C++ and java including C: The Complete Reference , Java The Complete Reference
Head First Java is fun to read for beginners and will serve as a good reference book for experienced programmers. The book assumes basic understanding of programming. JUnit in Action, Second Editionis a good book for beginners who are new to JUnit and Whitebox testing, The authors assume basic knowledge of Java, hence i would recommend learning java before you start working on Junit.
